GoBeyondDutch is an online Dutch language and culture school based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We run small live online group courses (maximum 8 students), conversation practice groups, and private lessons for adult learners, taught by native Dutch teachers who focus on practical communication skills.

All our teachers are native Dutch speakers with the NT2 teaching certification — professionally trained to teach Dutch as a second language, not just to speak it. They understand the challenges of learning Dutch and use practical, engaging teaching methods.

Our group courses run from complete beginner (A1) to upper-intermediate (B2), each level taught in short blocks with its own page, start dates and prices. We also run conversation practice groups at A2 and B1 for people who already speak Dutch and want to keep speaking. C1 coaching is available privately on request.

Yes. We offer group online courses for those who enjoy learning with peers, and private online lessons for students who prefer one-on-one attention and a fully customized learning experience — ask about private lessons via our contact page.

That depends on where you start, how much time you practise between lessons, and what 'done' means for you — so we don't promise a fixed timeline. What we can promise is a clear structure: each level is taught in blocks of ten one-hour lessons, you pay per block, and your teacher tells you exactly what to take next.

Group courses include live sessions with a native teacher in a group of at most eight, homework, progress tracking and feedback, cultural insights, class materials and notes shared after every session, and a certificate upon completion.

Private courses offer 100% personalized learning plans, flexible scheduling, one-on-one attention from native teachers, customized materials and resources, focused exam preparation support, immediate feedback and corrections, and content tailored to your professional or personal needs.

All our lessons are delivered live online via Zoom. You'll need a stable internet connection, a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, and a quiet space for learning.

We share class materials with every session — lesson notes, exercises, audio files and supplementary resources. The course book itself is not included: you order your own copy (each course page links the exact edition), so you can write in it and keep it. For private courses, materials are customized to your specific needs and goals.

Pick your level from the Courses menu — complete beginners can join A1 directly, with nothing to assess first. Every class page shows its exact start date, schedule, price and seats, and you enrol and pay online. If you've studied Dutch before and aren't sure where you fit, book a free level check first and we'll place you.

A short, free conversation — in English, and definitely not a test. You tell us a little about your Dutch (how you learned, when you last used it, your goal), and we reply within one working day with the level we'd start you at. If you've studied Dutch anywhere else, we'd rather place you correctly up front than move you after the course has started.

You pay per block — ten live lessons of 60 minutes — and every class page shows its exact price before you enrol. No hidden costs and no price you have to ask for.

Tell us after your first lesson. We'll move you to the group that fits — and if no suitable group is running, we refund the lessons you haven't taken. We'd rather do that than keep you in the wrong class.

If a class is full you can join its waitlist and we'll email you when a seat opens. If no scheduled time fits you at all, send us a class request with every day and time that could work — we plan new groups around real demand and contact you when one that fits opens.

For private lessons, you can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before the lesson without charge. For group courses, see our terms and conditions or contact us — we understand that circumstances change and try to be as flexible as possible.

Our courses build the language level those exams require — the integration exam sits at A2–B1, and the NT2 state exam (Programme I/II) at B1–B2. How long that takes depends on where you start, so we don't promise exam readiness by a fixed date. If an exam is your goal, mention it at your level check and we'll plan your route around it.

The inburgering exam is the Dutch integration exam required for certain residence permits. It tests your Dutch language skills (A2 or B1 level depending on your situation) and knowledge of Dutch society. For the official requirements that apply to you, check inburgeren.nl or duo.nl.

If you're working toward the NT2 state exam (Programme I or II) or another Dutch language qualification, tell us your goal at your level check or via the contact page and we'll advise honestly on what we can support.

You'll need a computer, laptop, or tablet with a stable internet connection, a working camera and microphone, and a quiet space for learning. We recommend using headphones for better audio quality.

If you experience technical difficulties, contact us immediately. We'll help troubleshoot the issue and, if necessary, reschedule your lesson at no extra charge.

Yes! As long as you have a stable internet connection, you can join lessons from anywhere in the world. This makes our courses perfect for expats, travelers, and remote workers.

For private lessons, we can record sessions upon request for your review. Group lessons are not typically recorded to protect student privacy, but we provide comprehensive notes and materials after each session.

While we're based in Amsterdam (CET/CEST), we offer flexible scheduling to accommodate different time zones. For private lessons, we work with your schedule to find convenient lesson times.

We use a practical, communicative approach that focuses on real-world Dutch usage. Rather than just grammar rules, we emphasize speaking, listening, and using Dutch in everyday situations. Our lessons incorporate cultural insights to help you understand not just the language, but also Dutch culture and customs.

For group courses, expect 2-3 hours of homework per week. For private courses, homework is tailored to your schedule and goals. We believe consistent practice between lessons is essential for progress.
